As part of a pioneering Joint Development Project (JDP), leading Marine Classification Society, the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) approved a range of ship repair and retrofit work processes for remote survey at Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions.
ABS presented a letter to Qatar Shipyard Technology Solutions during Posidonia 2024 commemorating the achievement.
ABS tested, validated and approved remote survey techniques at Qatar Shipyard for a number of survey tasks which included rudder clearance inspection; stern tube wear down inspection; and rudder plug opening inspection.
Successful implementation of remote survey techniques approved by ABS, a leader in remote survey, has enabled optimized scheduling of vessel surveys and minimized the downtime for our shipyard and our clients.
Boosted by the confidence and practical knowledge gained from these initial surveys, Qatar Shipyard will work in close collaboration with Classification societies on progressively expanding the scope of remote survey techniques.
